HP Mini 1000 ships with 3G, Viv Tam edition hits

The Mini 1000 from HP is still very much a hot ticket, and despite existing HP Mini's featuring the 'easiest 3G mod in the world' HP has now officially released out-of-the-box 3G capable Mini 1000s. Joy.

Before you nonchalantly say 'cool.' you may want to know that HP execs have been doing drugs again. So many drugs in fact that you are expected to pay an additional $200 for this 'added extra' to fund their coke habit (in conglomeration with AT&T or Verizon). Don't want to contribute to the deviated septums of some of the better paid tech bosses out there? Get a non 3G version - they have the same simcard slots and with some software installations you can get 3G working fine apparently.

Oh and the pretty but wildly priced Vivienne Tam edition HP Mini 1000 (pictured above), dubbed the 'digital clutch' is now available, pre-Christmas as promised. there is no doubt about it, the HP Mini 1000 kicks ass, and this cool designer [design] is sure to appeal to the Femmes among us. And at $699 retail it sure won't be popular amongst their husbands.

At this stage the 3-Cell battery is still the worst thing about these machines - expect 6-cell in January. Also, the VGA-Output port needs an additional adaptor so if you are planning to connect to a bigger screen or projector bear this extra cost and inconvenience in mind before you purchase.
