Netbook World Summit 1st December

Its still really hard to believe how far the netbook scene has come in such a short time. Only a year like 2008 would have allowed a product genre to come from just being formed late the year before, to expand to gigantic proportions. Well if there was any doubt still lingering that netbooks are serious market contenders and are here to stay the 'Netbook World Summit' is now being held in Paris on December 1st.

Netbooks have a very high acceptance rate amongst Europeans and so Paris is a natural place to host such an event. Its good to see the netbook blogosphere in full force with Pierre LeCourt from BlogEee to open the event at 9am. There will also be sessions from (and on) OLPC, Intel, Qualcomm, Asus, MSI, Lenovo, Samsung, Phoenix, Mandriva, Linpus, gOS, Xandros, Mozilla and Google amongst others. At this stage its an invite only event (yeah I didn't get invited :P) so unfortunately if it sounds as good to you as it does to me you probably won't be able to just turn up. Surprisingly Microsoft doesn't look to be presenting, and after the hooha they made about Windows 7 being great for netbooks I would have expected them to turn up.
