MSI Wind Touchscreen Mod

Ever since netbooks came on to the scene mods-a-plenty have been done left, right and center in order to upgrade the machines' functionality. By far the most sought after mod in the contemporary netbook mod world is the touchscreen mod, however its one of the more difficult and risky mods so most people tend to reserve themselves to appreciating other modders' fine work.

MSI Wind forum user ziguan has not only posted up pics of his MSI Wind Touchscreen mod for the whole wide internet to see, but he has integrated visual instructions into the pictures for the brave who wish to follow in his footsteps. His guide is relatively straight forward but beware you will have to know how to solder and be comfortable completely disassembling your machine (and preferably reassembling it after!). The mod works in XP as well as OS X.

Integrated GPS would be a great complementary mod if installing the touchscreen is just not quite enough to whet your appetite.

Getting your own touchscreen for your Wind: If you read the original thread over at the MSI Wind Forums you will find that there is a lot of interest in getting hold of an MSI Wind Touchscreen. The user ziguan has actually ordered a larger quantity of the screens and has shipped them to those that are interested. Total price is around USD100 give or take. If you want to get in touch his details are on this page. Please don't PM him, use email instead.

There are also other MSI Wind forum users who have sourced other suppliers from Taiwan.

The video below is from MSI Wind Forum user zapro who purchased a screen directly from ziguan and followed his guide.
