Epson's Netbook. Hoorah.

Those of you who have been reading for a while now will know that I am awfully cynical when it comes to generic cookie cutter netbooks which, unfortunately, are in abundance. The MSI Wind and Eee PC 1000H started the trend of 10" 1024x600 display, Atom 1.6GHz N270 CPU, Windows XP machines, and multitudes (and I'm talking multitudes) of copycat manufacturers, big and small, have copied this model to try and make a buck.

Accordingly, I purposefully don't report every machine that comes out of nowhere with nothing new to bring to the table, if for no other reason than denying coverage to market-diluting companies. If you'd prefer to see me take up your day with news on the latest Chinese Wind clone, please let me know!

However, when the name Epson popped up on Engadget directly followed by netbook, my interest was piqued. But alas! Here we have an absolute prime example of a company clearly not suited to notebook making. Boring as hell design. Check. Atom? Check. XP? Check. 10" 1024x600 display? Check. Anything else even remotely of interest? Nope.

Ladies and Gents I give you the Epson Endeavor Na01 mini, try not to buy it.
