Cruising the lovely Melbourne train network I often succumb to boredom and occasionally pick up the 'MxTube', a free, daily tabloid type publication designed for vacant commuters. After thumbing through a couple of pages of Britney and other Jennifer Aniston crapola (apparently now dubbed Maniston - I hope this improves your life more than it did mine) my eyes naturally drifted onto a 1/4 page ad for the Asus N10.
As you can see in the picture above (click above to enlarge), the ad proclaims;
"My N10. Unplugged for 6 Hours* & still going."
I find this a little hard to swallow! Although the N10 does come with a 6-cell battery, it is very unlikely you will get 6 hours of use at a reasonable screen brightness while using WiFi and other useful features. The * linked to text stating that battery life will vary depending on use.
Laptop Mag, when they reviewed the N10J, got 4 and a half hours of battery life with 'stamina mode' enabled while browsing the internet continuously over a WiFi connection.
I think this is a clear case of false (or optimistic!) advertising by Asus, unless they are talking about 6 hours with the Bluetooth off, WiFi off, no CPU load and maybe even the screen turned off!? Or 6 hours in hibernation mode perhaps?
