HP Mini 1000 leaked, looks handsome

Even Wile E. Coyote wants more info

If you have been keeping an eye on netbook news you'll know that the aluminium shelled HP 2133 mininote is quickly becoming one of the best value 'old school' netbooks on the market. The price has been steadily dropping and can be picked up for peanuts at our Amazon store.

Why the swift drop in price you ask? Well, it seemed HP was trying to clear virtual shelf space for their new Vivienne Tam edition netbook due this December. But now it appears that some tool in charge of HP's products page flipped a switch he shouldn't have and let the world know about the HP Mini 1000 a bit too early. It looks like this netbook is an all new offering from Hewlett Packard and as you can see its a featured item on their shopping page here [subject to change].

However, if you click on the pic on HP's page you only find out about other notebooks of theirs, no specific details on the Mini 1000 are available yet. We can only assume it has a 10" screen and we know it joins the S10, S101, N10 and NC10 in the lame generic naming gang.

We do know this however;
  • Starting price $399
  • Starting weight 1.02Kg (light)
  • Thickness less than 25mm
  • Good looking black finish - don't count on aluminium
Hopefully this one features an Atom like the upcoming Vivienne Tam netbook. That VIA C7 really was a dealbreaker for the original mininote. Watch this space.
