
His Holiness the Dalai Netbook
One of the most popular CEOs in the tech biz at the moment has to be Jerry Shen of Asus blood. As CEO, Jerry is tasked with pushing the Eee brand, arguably the fastest growing brand in computing in the last 12 months. Laptop mag scored a 1 hour interview with Jerry and he gave us his views on the market and the future for Eee.
A few key take-outs from the interview are;
- 4m Eee's sold in total, 5m by end of 08
- Touchscreen Eee PCs coming early 2009
- Possible tablet Eee's being explored
- 10" will be the biggest netbook in the near future as Asus classifies 11" and above a notebook (N10 was a once off)
- Asus is looking at utilising Windows 7 in 2009, and not very interested in running Vista on any netbooks
- Jerry shys away from discussion on utilising dual-cores
- Asus to feature "a lot of new products [for the Eee brand]" at the next CES
