Looks like the next big, or small it would seem, thing to complement the Netbook Revolution are projectors. What??? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of having a ultra compact and super-portable computer? No says 3M and Toshiba with their latest market offerings in the form of so-coined Pico-Projectors.
Although not launched yet the 3M MPro110 is due in the US soon (read end of September) and features VGA and Composite inputs to spit out a 640x480 image at 4:3. Weighing in at a wonderfully light 100ish grams it is a perfect companion to a netbook requiring a bigger image. I anticipate it will be great for gaming and mini-presentations on the road, although the low resolution means its not going to help increase the amount of pixels you can get in your browsing session.
Toshiba's beautifully stylish LED Pico Projector is also in the works and hopefully released before Christmas if they want to score some serious sales. If looks could kill. A low quality video demo is available for viewing, filmed at IFA 2008 here. Specs are scant but expect VGA in and hopefully an array of resolutions.
